MAHWAH, N.J. – New Jersey residents pay the highest property taxes in the U.S., but the burden may hurt less in some municipalities – such as Mahwah and West Milford – than others, NJ.com reports.
The publication compared property taxes to median household income to derive the municipalities in each county where property taxes “Hurt the least.”
“The smaller bite the property taxes take from your household income, the less it hurts,” the story says.
Mahwah: The $8,285 average property tax bill is 7.7 percent of the $107,336 median income.
